In a follow up to our Windows 11 blog post and email, some of our customers will need to acquire new equipment to utilize Windows 11. Remember, Windows 10 will become obsolete this year. We have been asked about availability and cost of upgrading systems in light of recent tariff changes. Here are some points to consider, if you know you will be buying equipment this year.

  • Experts anticipate that computer component shortages, particularly for AI-related chips, could persist through 2025, driven by factors like AI demand and Windows 10’s end-of-life.
  • There is an increased demand for both chips and hardware, impacting supply chain delays.
  • Tariffs and export restrictions will most likely cause a disruption in the semiconductor supply chain.
  • The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) predicted that the price of laptops and tablets could increase 46% due to tariffs.

Many of our customers are opting to purchase equipment ahead of schedule, which we encourage. Waiting until later in the year could be risky.
