At Waytek, moving our clients to the cloud starts with asking the key questions that drive a business to such a move. We help our clients first understand exactly what it means to migrate to the Cloud and why they would choose to do so. We idenitfy the key applications that can take advantage of this environment and outline the most efficient, effective and least disruptive path. We know that moving to the Cloud is compelling, because it offers businesses new opportunities to be more agile, reduce costs and provide competitive advantages. It also takes insight, planning and expertise to deliver the results that companies desire.

Depending on the IT infrastructure, storage and backup needs of our customers, some are opting to move to the Cloud, including virtual servers and networking. Customers with limited IT staff and bandwidth find that the Cloud is an economical and practical choice. These customers save on investing in upfront hardware and software costs. It is also a viable choice for customers with multiple offices or remote employees.

MilleniumOur customer, Millenium Home Health Care, is a growing Medicare-certified provider of registered nurses and other home care professionals to patients in the Philadelphia region and Scranton and Wilkes-Barre regions in Pennsylvania, and throughout the state of Delaware. The 18-year old company has multiple offices, in addition to their corporate headquarters in Broomall, PA. Millenium also is acquiring sites in other locations and states.

Millenium Home Health Care had previously been affiliated with another company. When it became an independent corporation, Millenium came to us with the desire to move everything to the Cloud. Its previous affiliation had controlled all of its servers, applications, etc. The goal was to move all information needed to hosted servers in the Cloud, both to reduce costs and also to increase flexibility and competitiveness as they expand to multiple locations.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition, Waytek met with the IT department of the previous affiliate and with Millenium’s CEO, Anthony P. Angelo, on multiple occasions to ensure that all of Millenium’s relevant servers, applications and data were moved and web-enabled. Waytek used RISE in the Millenium Cloud migration, since it partners with RISE as the hosting company of FASTHOSTS Internet Inc. Waytek uses RISE, because of the pricing, proximity, unlimited bandwidth usage and that it was chosen as the Microsoft Partner of the Year in 2011.

Anthony Angelo said, “For any corporation, integration and maintenance of its IT services is crucial. A fast-expanding company, Millenium Home Health Care’s staff depeneds on state-of-the-art IT integration and support, as do our referral sources, insurers and, most of all, our patients. As we continue to grow, we need a superior IT system that will grow with us, which is why we chose Waytek as our IT partner!

Waytek created a plan of how many hosted servers were needed, along with licenses, Cloud backup, and the application and data that needed to be moved. Waytek pre-built the hosted servers prior to the migration, in order to have everything in place. Our tech specialist, Scott, did the majority of the migration and worked with several vendors to get applications and data migrated. It was not an easy project, but it went very smoothly with minimal outage.

Currently, Millenium has 4 servers hosted in the Cloud: Branch Domain Controller, Terminal Server, MAS 90 Server and Exchange Server. One server is onsite and acts as the local domain controller and synchronizes with the branch domain controller in the Cloud. Millenium Home Health care was pleased with the outcome and made a cost-effective decision in going virtual.
